What youth-fiction books are on your bookshelf?
When entering someone’s home - do you look around and notice their stuff. The furniture, the paintings on the wall, the nick-knacks, etc. You can learn about the folks that live in that house by the items you observe.
One set of items that provides considerable insight about the homes’ inhabitants are on their bookshelf.
Now - take a look around your house. What books do you see? Histories, biographies, fiction, non-fiction, self-help, thrillers, romance, cooking, Sci-Fi, business and management, art and photography. What did you find?
Hopefully it is a well rounded collection. Variety on one’s bookshelf is not complete without “Coming of age” and “Youth books”. Whether you have a teenager in your home or not, be sure to stock up on top selling youth-fiction books. They are a perfect “friend” to a young adult when they visit your house.
Okay - so what did you see on your bookshelf? Do you have some favorite books? What are they? The answers to those questions will reveal a lot about what motivates and inspires you. And, likewise, when you are visiting someone else’s home - take a look around. Take note of their books.
